"Adios, it has been fun..." Time to
bring a little over 4 years of madness to a close. We are staying in Mexico (of
course...), but moving on to a different estado. One that we hope to grow with
and not feel so sufficated and trapped, like we have in Queretaro these past
years. In 2006 we reached an amazing degree of readers - over 1,200 people a
day... as of today we have dwindled down to around 800 or so peeps... mainly
because I have not been writing much this year, very busy with internet projects
and
the opal and fire agate mines in Mexico.
I will leave you with one final, excellent piece of work by the guys who run Mexico at the moment - the narcos. Yes, I know... they are the bad guys - but, sometimes you just have to love them! The way they take care of the people around them, their trickery, inventiveness, sometimes wildly extreme ideas from some of these cartels totally stuns the government forces trying to squash them... but I agree they are violent and kill way to many people for no good reason, very lawless (but that is Mexico's culture...) and wouldn't think twice to kill you if you looked at them wrong.
Today it was leaked that the 'top dog' (literally) was kidnapped when a group of dogs was flown from Mexico City to work in Somalia. Mexico's elite drug force unloaded the animals and found their 'super sniffer' Rex IV gone and a street dog in his place! The government, totally stunned (very pissed...) and extremely worried about this switcharoo - now the drug lords can use Rex IV's super sniffing abilities to learn what tactics they need to change to help them conceal their cargo better from detection. Who would have thought... yeah? ...narcos - amazing!
Our blog landing page , lists some of my favorite blogs about Mexico (and a couple others of interest)... so not to leave you 'cold turkey'...... If a new blog starts up in the future you will be the first to know - so don't forget to bookmark and check back possibly next year! In a couple days we are off to Colima - can't wait!
¡Saludos!

"To Blog Or Not To Blog..." As you
may have noticed, my blogs have been getting fewer and fewer by the month.
The reasons vary, I have been getting more busy with life, had a few health
problems... and I believe I am just getting so immune to the BS that goes on
here in Mexico and the world, that it is bad enough I have to know about it,
but to communicate it to others just doesn't seem right anymore. So by the
end of August I will temporarily (maybe permanently...) halting these blogs
while I get a fresh outlook on life as I move my family am¿nd business
to the heart of volcano country - Colima state.
Moving out of this highly political state of Queretaro, gonna live where it is a bit safer. As alot of people who live in this little pueblo of San Juan del Rio will tell you, the people here are either very poor, have that lame borders mentality (probably half this town has illegally lived and worked in the US), those juniors (the rich kids who think this town is theirs to rule), and the trapped! (like us, wondering WTF we are doing here and how to we escape!) But most of all, and more and more people will tell you the same - this town is extremely perverted! Mexico City has less perverts than San Juan - it is really a bunch of disgusting, sick people dwelling here - not a good safe environment, especially for kids. Now in the US you could report these people and the local government would want to clean it up right...? Unfortunately here alot of the local government and their families are a big part of this perverse town. I can't even think of a city in the US that is anywhere close to being as perverted as these people.
One last little rant.... why did it take the Miss Universe representatives in Mexico City over 2 months to apologize to Miss USA who was booed and taunted at the pageant here in May? They couldn't have apologized to her the next day.....? Why should she now even consider your phony ass-kissing apology - morons!
Stay tuned for my final blog coming very soon!

"Staying Healthy In Mexico..." A very
hard thing to do sometimes, with flu strains that are brought up from South
America by travelers that have never been seen in North America before. Besides
that, most hospitals don't know where to start or how to treat these new virus
strains and if you live in a small town - forget it! You are gonna have to
ride it out, which sometimes could take weeks!!! Why am I telling you this?
Because I have been violently sick, still sick, but I think I'll live - no
thanks to any local doctors, we rely on alternative medicine here if we want
to survive these super viruses.
So how can one avoid getting sick down here...? Luck, never leave your house..... luck. Also, you can make sure you stay away from Chili's Restaurants in Mexico. When Chili's first arrived from the US they became an instant hit, bringing American sports bar style ambience and cuisine with prices a little higher than most Mexicans were used to paying (about 500 to 600 pesos for a family of four) - but they were different enough to become very popular for a few years. Now ask anybody about their Chili's dining experience and for at least the past year they will tell you that it is crap! The food has gotten worse in quality, the portions are smaller, the drinks more watered down and the service has all but disappeared. And I'm not just talking about here in Queretaro, it is happening all over Mexico... Aguascalientes, Guadalajara, Mexico City. Chili's is now no better than the most popular Mexican dives like VIP's, Sanborn's and Wings. Some of you in the US can compare this to your Denny's dining experience, same shitty food. Fortunately, Papa John's Pizza is still the best damn pizza in all of Mexico.

"The Goreacle Is Coming!!!" Yes, Mexico
is breathlessly awaiting the arrival of Al Gore. For $175,000.00 us I think
Gore is breathlessly hurrying his husky bod down here. We expect him to arrive
on the 31st - oh GOREacle, please help Mexico with her extreme Mexico City
warming problem! Sponsored by Coca Cola.

"The
$60 Million Dollar High Grade Corn Experiment..." We all
remember the great corn scare of earlier this year - when Mexico discovered
it was running out of corn, tortilla prices rose a few pesos per kilo and the
'number one' food staple of the Mexican people was in danger. There are alot
of politics involved in this fiasco, including intervention by the US. So now
Mexico has spent $600,00.00 pesos to genetically weed out the DNA of a superior
generation of super corn, less susceptible to drought, mold and des ease (although
we do like our mold - huitlacoche, black rotting corn mold is a delicacy here
in Mexico), plus to be more nutritious.
Looks like the government is taking a page out of the Narco's of Michoacan book on pot growing... earlier this year during the raids on the marijuana crops they discovered that the growers had genetically altered the DNA of the marijuana plants. You could burn the fields, you could chop them down... but, if you didn't get the roots the plants would grow back - super pot! Now a few month's later there is a scientific discovery in the DNA of corn.... hmmm, sound a bit coincidental?

"07/07/07" And today's lucky number
is............. 'siete' or 'seven'!!! Today "The Goreacle" appeared
all over the world in holographic form welcoming everybody to the Live Earth
Concerts. While in Portugal they announced the NEW 7 Wonders of the World...
sponsored by a rich European who for $2.00 a pop will let you vote as many
times as you want for your favorite modern day wonder. I'm glad Chichén
Itzá made it... but why Stonehenge didn't make it? Here in Mexico we
had a campaign going with ads on Coke cans and since everybody drinks Coke
(the juices of the gods, according to Aztec folklore... chiste!) was an easy
choice.
Been a pretty messy week here (besides the rains...) a landslide of mud wiped-out a bus and killed over 30 people near Puebla, while over in Culiacan they tried to keep hush the cargo plane accident that blew a tire at take-off, plowed through a military vehicle with personnel that were preparing for Presidente Calderon´s plane arrival... in all 9 people died including a family of four when the plane careened across the highway into a building wall. But, you won't hear about it here... what would we do without internet?!?
Yes..... its been 3 weeks since the last blog!

"Legalize Prostitution In Mexico...?" Lately
Mexico has been passing alot of legislative bills that for an 80% Catholic
country is pretty loco - especially since some of these laws being passed just
add to the corruption that Mexico is trying to distance herself from. First
came 'same sex marriages'... now this is really okay, especially when you live
here long enough to see that half the country is really gay - especially the
politicians. It seems to be the silent culture in Mexico, many 'so-called'
macho men are married with families, but have little 'boy toys' on the side
- sick, I know... but a reality.
Then came abortion, some of you will think this is wrong, or murder, or against god - whatever! A person should be able to do what they want with their own body, especially when it can dictate the outcome of their own personal lives forever. And the church needs to keep their nose out of it and take care of their own internal problems, like the huge organization of pervert child molesting priests - whom get pardoned, and treated with carte blanc.
So now here we go__________ prostitution in Mexico... legalize it? I'm sure the mafia and government dirt can't wait! This will be corruption at its finest and Mexico has hundreds of years of experience in this field. Sorry, but I think legalizing prostitution will be a big mistake... just leave it the way it is, people turn a blind eye, the police take little 'mordidas' to turn a blind eye and everybody es feliz. I think some people want to bring in a new tourist trade that legally will bring them in a windfall of hot cash via the world's oldest profession.
Why aren't we legislating here in Mexico to fix our water problem? Mexico is in danger of running out of water in the next couple of years... but that isn't important enough, not until it is too late - just like not worrying about our corn supply, now we have to rely on other county's for Mexico's corn - what a joke! Who will supply us with water?!?

"Horse
Drownings..." I usually don't comment too much about things
happening outside of North America, but when idiots do things that piss me
off, they get a comment. The Appleby
Horse Drowning Fair 2007 has been around since the mid-seventeen hundreds?
(the website sure looks like it has at least...) Takes place every year at
a hill top named 'Fair Hill', very unique... ya? (except it used to be called
Gallows Hill, because that is where the Appleby public hangings took place)
Seems like the macho men in the town have no cajones either, because they are all afraid to come forward to take responsibility for killing a very beautiful young black and white horse. I know, you say it is tradition... It is a tradition of the 'ancient Romany fair' to wash horses in the river before each day's trading (which included dunking the animals head under the water, bareback riders trying to be mr. macho, etc.). Did you see the word 'ancient' above? That means back in the 17th Century when people weren't too bright - maybe Appleby is a town of inbreds, I couldn't find any info on that claim unfortunately.
Anyway, let's hope this is the last animal to suffer at the hands of the town of Appleby.

"Hot,
Hot, Hot..." Reached 90° today here... JAPAM has been
raising the water prices to gouge the people just in time for those hot summer
months, you used to pay around $60 to $80 pesos a month, now we are paying
around $160 - bastards! The ranchers are complaining too, they cannot afford
to pay their high bills to keep their livestock in fresh water - especially
the cows. Today in Queretaro, in protest... some of these disgruntled rancheros
sacrificed a cow on the steps of the JAPAM water company. This is the third
cow sacrifice in Mexico in the past month (and we thought it was chubacabras!),
Calderon's presidency is still taking care of the rich, while continuing to
killing the poor.
Sorry, I haven't been blogging for awhile.... alot of things happening around here and have been so freakin' busy and consado (tired) that I have just been absorbing all of the usual bullshit going on here in Mexico and around the world, instead of ranting about it. Now back to house hunting... our sala is sinking into a cesspool of caca below us, time to move! Quality Mexican craftsmanship (...quality Infonavit - government funded casas.....)

"Dia de la Madre..." Today is the
2nd holiest day in Mexico (the Day of the Virgen being numero uno) - Mother's
Day! At 3am we heard the first serenades in the neighborhood - yes, it is customary
to serenade your mother, Mexican mothers hold this country together! And if
you don't believe me, just ask ANY mother and she will definitely tell you
how it is.
Been away from the blogs for awhile.... what did I miss? Let's see.... thousands of naked Mexicans in the zocalo in Mexico City, Pro-Choice and Pro-Life debates (pro choice won - yeah!), the Catholic church (and the Pope), again sticking their noses in Mexican politics... killings, killings, and more killings.
Talked to an old amigo from grade school this weekend, he just got done planting a few hundred acres of corn on his farm in Nebraska, destined for us here in Mexico in a few months... thanks dude, we really appreciate it!
We
just got back from the fire agate mines in the Sierra Mountains above Calvillo
in Aguascalientes, hung out with our miner amigo and brought back some amazing
gemstones that we are currently putting up on our
website for sale... some amazing agates! Now it is back to work as usual,
what would we do without the internet?!?
