"How About... Cyber Tuesday...?" Unlike the reports coming out of the US about "Cyber Monday" being real and not just another guajiro dream... here we had a "Cyber Tuesday" instead - but does anybody really care? Probably not... we do and are happy to get some of that much anticipated holiday business!

We rely on the rest of the world to pay our bills and put food in the frig... we definitely can't rely on Mexico for this - nobody can! You think the US Congress wastes your time and money by never doing anything really to help the people of America (just big biz...). Well here, the Mexican Congress has done the US one better! An all out brawl took place yesterday in Congress here - bodies being thrown about, coke cans being dumped and smashed on congressmen and women's heads, one woman even received a broken nose - could this type of thing ever happen to Madam Housespeaker Pelosi??? ....doubt it.

Mexico waits..... is this a warm-up to Friday's swearing in brawl of the new president? Big business is spending alot on TV ads trying to unite a very split country... not for the sake of the people of Mexico, but for the sake of their profit margin. Both the US and Mexico have very similiar causes - neither cares about its people. But if the US and Mexican Congresses decided to have an all out brawl, I do think Mexico might win!

"Before You Carve Up That Butterball Turkey..." This story may cause you to lose your appetite for turkey... but you can still enjoy your pumpkin pie. We already know about the millions of turkeys butchered for Thanksgiving... supposedly some 80 million for the winter holidays alone. But what you don't know (and may not want to see) what happens to the freshly hatched chicks that are treated like objects and not a living, breathing creatures that feel... and what they feel at most turkey rendering plants is pain - nothing else. If you have the stomach, here is your Thanksgiving "heartbreaking" story for 2006. The horrendous video is also available at YouTube as well.

Bon Appetit!

"The Parallel Government Has A New President..." Yesterday (Día de la Revolucíon), Mexico received its first Presidential swearing in ceremony in Mexico City's zocalo. Lopez Obrador (AMLO) the PRD party's (losing) leftist organization that will not acknowledge the victory of the meek attorney Calderon (whom won by the smallest vote amount ever in the history of Mexico), thus splitting the country. President Obrador starting up his parallel government vowing to fight every decision made by the new Mexican President, the PAN political party and all of their followers (mainly big business) when he is sworn in on December 1st. So we are still in for some good (corrupt) political fun this year!

For people in the US who may have trouble understanding what exactly is going on down here in Mexico... lets pretend that Al Gore had the 'cajones' to stand up and fight the 2000 Presidential Election's fraudulent results and started up a parallel government (probably in a parallel universe... because of global warming) with the Democratic Party going against everything that Bush and the rest of the Republicans say and do. Same deal as Mexico... Bush and Calderon toss away the little guy who is starving, needs a job or other help... the people who voted these pendejos into office are getting nothing, while corporate business gets all of the perks and freedoms that all people are entitled to.

"Gas Prices Going Up..." Which in turn is raising the prices on all goods trucked throughout Mexico, as the country remains devastated financially with millions of people already unable to make ends meet. If you ask the locals, especially in the smaller towns - they don't know where their next peso is coming from. They are selling food out of their casas, doing any odd job available, even the gardners are looking for new ways of making dinerito... people are behind on their payments, gonna be a very different Navidad this year for retailers and families.

Soooo, lets raise the prices on everything! The oil companies are making the consumer pay for the development of cleaner fuel - imposed b the government. We already know there is going to be some shortages as well because of this. They say sugar is being hidden in warehouses right now and it is best to stock up while its on the shelves before the forced shortage begins, perfect timing don't you think?

"Banco de Wal-Mart..." Watch out! Walmart wants the rest of your pesos too! In the next couple weeks (just in time for the holidays) the Bank of Wal-Mart will be open to deeply indebt your lives (for generations to come) to Walmart stores and SAM's Clubs.... neither option is a favorite of mine. Plus, I guess they paid the grande "mordida" in Cabo San Lucas to finally get inside the richest area and final state in Mexico (Baja Sur). Cabo doesn't need low quality, low priced Walmart crap! In the past 5 years they have already been hit with the huge warehouse stores like Sam's Club, Costco and Home Depot to name a few. This really kills the mom and pop shops, that over the past 30 years have helped Cabo grow with innovative ways of getting a wider variety of quality goods that locals needed.

When I lived in Cabo I would usually go to the smaller family run mercados, like Diana's on the barrio backstreets than go to the American and Canadian catered high priced (and low quality) Aramburo market. The little guys are friendly, extremely high customer service and very relaxed atmosphere to shopping. Now the giant barns with minimum wage employees in a factory-like setting are going to crush the last remaining pieces of the "real" Cabo.

"Bombs, Bombs, Bombs..." Are we under terrorist attack? Who is responsible for the bombings in Mexico City? Are they unsatisfied Scotia bank customers? (if so, then I should join their organization!) Is it OMLO? (Lopez Obrador's people... from the parallel government movement) Do the Zapatistas finally have some huevos and are now in the bomb making biz? Or... could it actually be the president-elect's people? After all, they have been coached by US advisors and in the US the "terror fear factor" worked for Bush. Maybe Calderon did this so when he takes office he can have more of Mexico's divided join him in the PANista political ways and forget about the electoral fraud that made him president a couple months ago. But to be fair, I guess we should also consider the APPO teachers union in Oaxaca - useless as teachers... maybe they are good bomb builders!?!

What I am trying to say is ANYBODY could be responsible for the recent bombing in D.F. The problem will be when they 'reportedly' catch the people responsible, will they really be the culprits? ....or just the political scapegoats?

Finally........... okay Democrats, now show us your stuff, forget "it's payback time..." just do something for the good of the people of the USA - yeah!?!

"Virtual Texas Border Watch..." Now you too can help the state of Texas keep an eye out for illegal immigrants crossing into the US. A new website is up and running on (almost) 9 webcams across the Texas borders..... www.TexasBorderWatch.com

Hopefully someday (soon) they will upgrade their software to accommodate Firefox, currently their cams only work with Explorer - an oversite I am sure. After all, they are "Securing the Border for the People of Texas" ....or so their slogan goes.

"The Battle Of Oaxaca..." The townspeople are sick of the barricades, have no money because they have no tourist business, find it too dangerous to leave their casas at night... while the teachers union is growing huge egos, has the Zapatista's blessings, and will fight to the death. The Federal police lost the battle to takeover the University Radio station, why? Because (if you have watched any of the video feeds....) nobody is really in charge of the situation - its like... okay send in the troops - what do we do??? - get inside the university somehow and take control of the radio station - oh... okay, bueno. Sounds a little bit like Iraq........ Anyway, here are some great shots of the goings on yesterday from independent newspaper "La Jornada" - an excellent time had by all, I am sure!

"Dead's Day... Halloween... Hell in Oaxaca..." This morning we were tortured by the kindergarten school on the hill above us with gringo Halloween tunes (celebrating Dia de los Muertos?) the Monster Mash, a jazzy version of the Addams Family Theme and a couple others. After repeated playing of these songs and the screaming cheers of 5 year olds... lets just say____ I was awake! Tonight started Dead's Day fiestas, which will carry through the weekend - then come the holidays Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for the traditional Dia de los Muertos family celebrations. So, as usual..... preparing for a week of holidays and festive celebrations. Not to mention the traffic! As people start piling into our litttle pueblo, schools and businesses close - just what the schools need... more time off for the teachers - THAT DO NOT TEACH! Instead of giving the teachers so many days off - for no reason - maybe they should be sent to the front lines in Oaxaca for some real training! Of course, this might be the first time these teachers ever work a day in their lives... which could also end their lives.

"Changing Of The Guard..." As the newly elected officials start taking over from the old regime around Mexico, alot of new faces and constructions are popping up in large cuidads (cities) down to the tiniest village or pueblo. Here in the birthplace of Mexico's politics, we have been having tons of construction going on, most of it by the outgoing President of our Municipal, who during her 4 year term did absolutely nothing for the town - now she is working her ass off, repairing roads, fixing street signs, traffic signals, etc. Traffic is a huge mess at the moment... easier to walk a few miles (you will get there faster) then trying to drive.

Also, ever since the elections our local police force kinda decided to take a vacation (like the government school teachers here do... if anybody is showing up just to receive a paycheck, it is that bunch!) you could double, triple park, if you needed a cop you had to look very hard... like under the shade of a tree, at a food cart or bothering some cute shop girl in one of the many tiendas around town. Then on October 8th a new police chief and brand new police force with clean - press uniforms and a fleet of new mini police cars hit the streets. Now we have one or two uniformed at almost every traffic intersection around town. If you illegally park they confiscate your license plates, things are starting to move again...... and AMLO (i.e. Lopez Obrador, Mexico's parallel government president) is disappearing in the dust, another page in Mexico's colorful political history.

"Playing The TERROR Card Again..." Well it has worked for the last couple elections... so since the Republicans are set to lose 20 or more seats in Congress right now (because people are finally waking up and getting tired of their shit) it is time to roll out the 2006 Terror Attack Ads. Remember before Bush's last election fraud campaign... we were having all of these Yellow Alert and even Orange Alerts? Let's see if they come back, but this time the republicans are gonna need something a little stronger because they have played the people of the US one too many times and these guys are going down! ...and they know it. Can't wait to see some of the "new" vids coming out this weekend - will be YouTube'ing it from down here Mexico way.

"Cuba Trade Sanctions Getting Stupider..." So, with all of the REAL problems going on in the world that the US shoulder deep in, at the moment... now they want to make firmer restrictions, heavy fines and jail time for US citizens that travel and spend the almighty dollar in Cuba.

More political BS for some useless midterm elections... Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran and North Korea aren't enough to deal with at the moment? ....oh, I forgot! Those topics won't win you votes right now, will they? (just like mentioning GW or Foley... not good for vote getting right now) I guess the real Americans will have to continue to visit beautiful Cuba via Mexico like they have for many years...with her wonderful old world mediterranean style, cozy latin bars, wonderful Cuban music, classic cars and unique colorful art. But no worries people, Cuban Customs does not stamp your passport (unless you ask them to... then they will, with a very confused look on their face) they don't want happy tourists going to jail for 10 years in a country that is "supposed" to be - the Land of the Free! Imagine, in jail next to murders, thieves and drug dealers... just for helping out the Castro ecomony with a few US dollars - imagine!

"Forget The Fences..." At least at the Rio Grande borders... just fill the rio with crocodiles ! Alot cheaper than a fence and you don't have to feed them. Whereas the miles of border fence still won't stop the tunnel express for immigrants wanting to go to the US, a few tunnels might be lost when they build the wall... but Mexicans will just build new ones - when there's a will, there is a guey. This is the Mexican way... of course none of this can really be blamed on the people of Mexico or her culture - it is the government who is at fault, if they would help their people, de-privatize the stronghold of companies squeezing all of Mexico's consumers... maybe everybody wouldn't be opening little tiendas (shops) and selling food, clothes and anything else they can think of to try and survive here. Personally, if I was a 100% Mexican I would be paying to make that tunnel passage to the US as soon as I possibly could as well.

Sooo, forget the fences - Mexico needs to help its people, get rid of the monopolies like Telmex, Pemex, etc. - getting the people here jobs! So less people will feel the need to escape to another country to try and support their families - unfortunately unless the new President can see clear of his party's platform (pro big business) we are headed for another 6 years of NOT helping the people of Mexico.
