"No Halloween here... " Schools
and governments are anti-Halloween more than usual this year... we Americans
are too much into demonic and scary celebrations - according to this Catholic
country. But........... all the candies you find in the stores in the cheapo
halloween candies from the US!??
Manana starts the Dia de los Muertos festivities November 1, All Saints Day, and November 2, All Souls Day ,Monday starts with the "dia de los innocentes" for the children that have passed on to the other side. Tuesday will be in celebration for the adults. As usual in our (less than) traditional pueblo, candles will not be allowed in the cemeteries nor will all night vigilantes and fiestas for returning loved ones on these nights. The most beautiful place to attend Dead's Day celebrations is (anywhere but here....) Michoacan on Lago de Pátzcuaro and the little island of Janitzio - this place is the ultimate place for dia de los muertos!
Mas manana...............

"Mexico City..." So,
things are going smoothly as usual down here... the mayor had all of his
employees out beautifying the city by repainting all the lines on the roads
- nice job! Good thing a homeless person
wasn't lying there... and the protests continue at Teotihuacan, tis the season
for ofrendas.
On a lighter note - the future!!!

"Wal-Mart tells the world to bend over..." These
assholes not only desecrated the area around Teotihuacan - digging up (what
they called...) insignificant artifacts. Now a story comes out of Honolulu about
the capitalistic atrocities there in Hawaii, with the digging up of 42 Native
Hawaiian bodies to make way for a Wal-Mart and Sam's Club. They put the remains
in cardboard boxes in a cold storage... how nice.
What gives these people the right to rape the world? I'll bet they are big Bush campaign donaters too! Ya think...?
Wal-Mart is even prepared to cash in on their own demise! They own... fuckwalmart.com and fuckwal-mart.com! ....too bad, now I can't buy the domains and abuse them the way they abuse their immigrant workers and the world cultures.

"Day of the slaughter... La Matanza" The
Mixtecas in Puebla are preparing for the feast, a tradition that has gone
on since 1784. There will be "mole de caderas" (leg of
lamb in mole sauce) everywhere today as the indigenous slaughter 4,500 goats
in a quasi-pegan/catholic religious ceremony.
For the past 6 months the sacrificial goats have been fed herbs, flowers and salt to give their meat the particular flavor associated with mole de caderas.
Not a good day for goats in Puebla.

"The Continuing Wal-Mart vs Sacred Land (Teotihuacan) and
Capitolistic Payoffs..." To
try and appease the people (street vendors) of Teotihuacan, Wal-Mart has
decided to allow the vendors to sell their trinkets depicting the Pyramids
of the Sun and Moon, serpents and other Aztec imagery at the entrance to
the new store. Who knows how they got Mexico to allow them to build here
($$$), we know they paid-off the archeologists (you know how much money archeologists
make in the world... now cut that at least into 1/4th and that is probably
what an archeologist makes in Mexico) who said they were satisfied with the
outcome - yep, they all probably have a Wal-Mart charge card in their wallets
right now!
Soon those slimy Wal-Marters will be putting their Teotihuacan shirts and Chinese produced trinkets out there and have the vendors hawk them to draw in people for the cultural sales effect - which for $200 pesos a day ($20 bucks) the vendors will cheerfully agree to this kind of proposition and the Wal-Mart Mexico store (in site of the great pyramids) will have bought out every last protestor (nuisance) in the pueblo.
Big business wins again... as Mexico continues to sell itself and it's large cheap labor force to the outside world.

"Dalia Lama visits Mexico..." Yesterday
his holiness (no not the Pope) visited Mexico City's Museum of Anthropology
- a great place! Today he meets with Congress and the Mayor. Presidente Fox
declined an offer to meet with him (probably too busy running Bush's campaign),
but his wife met with the Dalia Lama privately.
Buddism comes to the Catholics!

"A new world power is erupting!" Mount
St. Helens is
at it again, while down the Pacific coast in Colima,
Mexico... they also had an eruption with some lava spew. Could these two
volcanoes be related? Now we are watching the Popo in
Mexico City to see if he decides to increase his activity too... the
west is a shakin'!
...no comments from me about the US Presidential debates - I think Bush's facial expressions say it all!

"Mexican Coke..." It´s
the real thing! Here is San Juan del Rio we exclusively make the mini
Cokes and they are supposed to be the most healthy Cokes in all of Mexico.
The Coca Cola company here uses the thermal waters that surround us, which
adds minerals to the already "gourmet" little bottles
- Cokitas... (coquitas) which cost more than your average
can of Coke. They are very prized in Mexico City, every time we visit somebody
they always want us to bring them a case.
Maybe we should get into the business of exporting them... if people in the states love Mexican Coke so much, how about a healthy version (guaranteed not to make you obese!).

"When will be get some decent - unmonopolized phone
service down here - chin!" Good
old Carlos
Slim and his son are still giving lousy service and keeping the competition
away - Mexican payola... come on Sprint, MCI, Bell.... whoever, pay that
mordida and get down here we are dying for some baby bell action. I have
been kicked off line about 20 times so far today - and it's broadband, not
56k dial-up.
What gives Slim???

" Johnny Ramone has left the planet..." I
declare Ramones music all day around the world! I'd love to hear the new
tunes he and Joey are going to work on now up there... rest in peace John

" ¡ VIVA MÉXICO ! " Here
is the English translation of Mexico's National Anthem...
Mexicans,
at the cry of battle prepare your swords and bridle; and let the earth
tremble at its center at the roar of the cannon.
Oh fatherland your forehead shall be girded with olive garlands, by the divine
archangel of peace. For in heaven your eternal destiny has been written by
the hand of God.
But should a foreign enemy dale to profane your land with his sole, Think,
beloved fatherland, that heaven gave you a soldier in each son.
War, war without truce against whom would attempt to blemish the honor of the
fatherland! War, war! The patriotic banners drenched in waves of blood.
War, war! On the mount, in the valley. The terrifying thunder of the cannon.
And the echoes nobly resound to the cries of Union! Liberty!
Fatherland, before your children. Become unarmed Beneath the yoke their necks
in sway. And your countryside be watered with blood, On blood their feet trample.
And may your temples, palaces and towers crumble in horrid crash, and ruins
remain saying: The fatherland was made of one thousand heroes.
Fatherland, fatherland, your children swear to exhale their breath in your
cause, If the bugle in its belligerent tone should call upon them to struggle
with bravery.
For you the olive garlands!
For them a memory of glory!
For you a laurel of victory!
For them a tomb of honor!
But any 4 year old in Mexico knows how to say it right! (I just hope I spelt everything alright...)
Mexicanos
.......Happy Independence Day!

"A story you may never hear about..." What
if...... today a refrigeration truck lost its way out of our little community
of San Juan del Rio, made the locals suspicious and pulled the truck over
to see what was up. The driver shoots himself in the head splattering brain
matter all over the cab of the truck and...... the police open up the back
of the refrigeration truck and they find about 100 frozen childrens bodies
from around 3 to 12 years old.
WHAT IF.......
and lets say two of the children were the ones that went missing after school here in town last week. Don't you think that may be of interest to the world? Who in our small pueblo might be associated with selling young children from the small (poor) communities around San Juan for body parts?
Looks like the driver might have got off easy... (easier than the children)

"Keep your Corona Light..." Funny,
how gringos love their Corona Light.... just about any light beer to be honest.
They think they can drink more and not get fat or dementia as fast - and_________
its trendy. Here in Mexico we don't put up with trendy beers (or as my Samoan
amigos would say - fufu beer), its the real thing and usually double-fisted.
Mexicans don't drink just one bottle at a time and they certainly don't care
about getting fat or dementia!
Remember, all light beers are just piss water... and guess what! Corona Light is Mexican Piss water - and we don't drink piss in Mexico. Try one of the better (non-trendy) Mexican beers if you get a chance: Negra Modelo, Dos Equis, Carta Blanca, Tecate, Modelo, Indio, Bohemia... and at Christmas try the seasonal Noche Bueno.
Ok, Mexican beer advertisement over.

"Covering up ancient history..." Big
business is at it again - guess who....? WAL-MART!!! They are just about
finished constructing the new Wal-Mart owned "Bodega Aurrera"...
right next to the pyramids at Teotihuacan, one of Mexico's most important
and least known about ruins. There is still important findings going on all
around the site that could eventually lead to the discovery of who built
and lived in the area of the Temple del Luna and Temple del Sol in ancient
times. The Wal-Mart people have already paved over a small prehispanic alter
they discovered, making way for the parking lot.
It is really too late to stop this destruction, Wal-Mart has already desecrated this sacred area even if the protests to keep them from opening succeed.
Greed, money... and deep pockets helping to destroy our planet's history.

"Excuse the off-topic..." America
is really in trouble - we have a President whose ego is running dangerously
wild, his family of half-wits behind him (wife and kids included), a stealth
VP that disappears and then reappears in an instant and now the final blow,
a dim-witted movie star from Nazi heritage
reading us speaches by out-of-work Hollywood script writers.
I know Kerry isn´t the answer... but he doesn't seem as dangerous as the Texas idiot who has sent many of our young people to their death for a war for oil ...and not terrorism. Remember there is still a war on terrorism going on in Afganistan... but Iraq is just another CIA Panama-type mistake. Put the bugger in, let his ego go wild, then go in ten years later an pull the plug.
Fortunately, at the worst... we have four more years of Bush before we can pull the plug on this fiasco.
......but how many more people must die in the mean time?
